Pingtung Dikeng has a unique terrain. In this exhibition, while preserving the original beauty of the site, it is transformed into a habitat for monsters. The ‘Dikeng Site’ is turned into a monster dwelling. In addition to the original curatorial team of the ‘Seaside Gallery - Chuan Jian (Yesart Gallery and Ching Yu Shan Fang), the exhibition also specially invited the architectural firm ‘Divooe Zein Architects’ representing the Venice Architecture Biennale as a curatorial consultant. The exhibition aims to capture the ‘natural’ essence of Dikeng and invited the award-winning ‘Üroborus Studiolab’ team to transform the industrial ruins into a mysterious and ethereal space. This nighttime exhibition format is a first in Taiwan and a rare sight internationally. We invite everyone to explore it with A-Lei during this summer.”

The “Dikeng Site” was originally constructed during the Japanese colonial period as a paper pulp factory site for Taiwan Sugar Corporation. It reaches a depth of 6 meters and is an accessible underground space. Previously, it served as a storage area for the pulp factory. Now, thanks to the Pingtung County Government’s efforts to revitalize the Citizen Park, the site has been brought back to light while preserving its original weathered walls, creating a new landscape that bridges the past and present.
